In France, vehicles used for transporting perishable foodstuffs under controlled temperature must have a valid technical conformity certificate issued by Cemafroid. This certificate, initially issued when the vehicle was put into service, must be renewed after a period of 6 years, and then again after a second period of 3 years.
The refrigerated vehicle must successfully pass a temperature descent or maintenance test designed to ensure that the vehicles are capable of producing the necessary cold and/or maintaining the temperatures required for proper food preservation during transport. This test must be carried out at a testing center recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, based on an audit conducted by Cemafroid according to its standards .
At 12 years of age, the technical conformity certificate can only be renewed after the vehicle has passed through an official testing station .
The procedures applicable to test centers for submitting an application for recognition based on assessments carried out by Cemafroid are defined by a regulation of the service: "Public service for issuing official certificates of conformity to the ATP Agreement" validated by the ministry in charge of the delegation and enforceable against all users (manufacturers, test centers, etc.).
Once recognized, a testing center can use the "Testing Center ATP" brand in compliance with the rules of use defined contractually.
